FEMALE SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN UNIVERSITIES

"I would like to finally graduate from the University and get a well paying job and finally change the life of my family." These the words of most students going to the University. Challenges are yet to come their way such as financial challenges and many others ,but there is this one challenge that most students especially the females are afraid to speak out against leave alone handling it. I can call it SEX FOR GRADES

This challenge is mostly faced by the female students. These fragile group of students, go to the university hoping to achieve their dreams and become successful people in the society. Even though some get to the University and forget about what took them there ,but some really work hard to achieve everything.

We also have two groups among these female students who are faced with this challenge within the same environment. Starting with the hard-working student, the lecturer takes notice of this beautiful and hard-working lady in his class, but since he does not want the lady to 'waste' alot of time on her studies,he approaches her and requests to have sex with her in exchange for higher and better grades. What do you think the student will do?

Looking at the other lady now,who decided to forget what took her to school, she is also approached by the same lecturer,offering the same deal he offered the other student, but this time a much different character is involved here. What do you think happens next

Taking a look at the two situations, who do you think will accept the offer ? Looking at the hard-working student,she may decide to reject the offer because she knows come the exams she will pass highly because she is hardworking, but on the other hand ,threats from the lecture that he will ensure she fails her exams may finally make her to give in to his demands.

The second student will agree to the deal since she does not want to work hard for her grades. Therefore she will find an easy way to get her grades up so the lecturer will not have a hard time convincing her.

In other words, these two incidents still involve a sexual act whether by choice or not. The two students still have to engage in a sexual act in order to get good grades. Why does it have to be this way?? Every student should be given an opportunity to show their potential rather than exploiting them sexually. The bright students should be allowed to get their grades genuinely while the lazy ones will have to work hard for their grades.

This is a problem faced by most universities whether locally or internationally. Students choose to be silent because they are sometimes threatened by these lecturers. Effects of these acts include unwanted pregnancies,abotions and even diseases.
