THE HIDDEN TRUTH

It has always been the wish of most high school students to join a University of their dream to pursue different courses, this has never been any different from my dreams, going to one of the best universities and pursue a course in journalism. THE HIDDEN TRUTH!!!!!. We will get to know about this at the end of the story.

My wish finally came true when I received my calling letter to Technical University of Mombasa to pursue my dream course,Mass communication. I was so excited since it has always been my dream to be trained as a media personnel. The challenge came when my family could not afford the cost of almost everything, fee, accommodation,up keep and even the means of getting to Mombasa bearing in mind I was to travel from Kisumu to Monbasa, but thanks to God all these were later sorted .

3rd September 2018 was my first day at Technical University of Mombasa. I can say the first few days were not easy since I was in a new town also this was my first time in Mombasa.I found it difficult moving around and coping up with the climatic change.

My first semester was a little bit challenging because I was still adapting to the campus life. Some of these challenges included University demonstrations and the insecurity cases around Mombasa county.Life in the University especially in Mombasa started becoming a disaster to me when I come to realise that there were rampant cases of insecurity especially in areas around Kisauni and Mishomoroni.I used to live in fear not knowing when the gang will attack next even though I was not a resident of those areas. WAKALI WAO AND WAKALI KWANZA. These two groups sounded like the angel of death to me and the other students.

The two groups had sent most of our students to their early graves. I really feard for my life ,bearing in mind that I was miles away from home. I used to shed tears each time I heard that the school had lost a student because he or she was attacked by this gang. Students were determined to fight for justice but nothing ever seemed to work out because they never go support from the police.

Life away from home was not easy. Sometimes you could encounter some financial challenges but just making a phone call was sometimes a challenge to most of us students. But we always find a way to push through and survive it all.

I am now in my final year and am still determined to finish and graduate at the end of the year despite all the ups and downs of this campus life. It has been a long journey but with the help of my parents who supported me in every way they could I believe am going to make it. I can't say much about this last semester but so far it has been successful thanks to God Almighty, NY lecturers and my friends for this far we have come.

Going back to my topic nos,THE HIDDEN TRUTH...to me I believe there is so much information we have been missing about this campus life. Back in high school we were encouraged to work hard and go to campus that there is a lot of freedom there.... But actually I see no freedom here.... Students out there need to know what being a campus student means.... They need to know the challenges they are about to face immediately they step out of high school... Let's open up and tell them... To me that's THE HIDDEN TRUTH!!!!

  7. Yes there is Freedom, but these freedom comes with responsibility~It is here in campus where you realize you're the master and Captain of your Life.
Life here teaches you to be responsible with everything around you, bearing in mind that every decision you make the consequences hit you alone.
To all freshmen joining campus this year,my advice~Own your life and everything you do,look into consequences first before making any decision.
